As many of you know by now, the great Bill Withers has died. “Ain’t No Sunshine” has always been one of my favorites, but it’s impossible to keep still when I hear “Lean on Me” or “Lovely Day.” Don’t get me started on “Use Me” or “Just the Two of Us” or we’ll be here all day.
Straight No Chaser (another favorite) recorded a version of “Lean on Me” last week in quarantine. I think Bill would be proud.

Every time I have had to play bass on “Ain’t No Sunshine”, I felt as if I could easily count to one hundred while the singer was saying “I know, I know, I know……..”.
