I know, I took a week longer than intended to get back to Sunday posts, but I’m still pretty tired. I have to remember that healing doesn’t necessarily hew to schedules.
In easing my way back, I found a new video from 2Cellos that reminded me not only how much I love cellos played well, but how much I love Ed Sheeran. (Is it the music? The hair? The cats?) Hearing his “Castle on the Hill” played as a cello instrumental … perfection, as far as I’m concerned. So here are both versions. Enjoy.

Yes healing doesn’t always follow the schedule or the plan laid out for it (said the man who works in a hospital). I could tell some interesting stories about healing but the patient privacy laws are very strict and I am trying not to bend or break this law.

Some time ago, I heard a story (possibly apocryphal) about a doctor on rounds with his students. As he looked at the chart for a particular patient, he told the students that the man’s blood pressure was up, his glucose was up, and other dismal signs. The implicit conclusion was that the man was dying, but shortly thereafter, he made an amazing recovery. When the doctor asked the man if he had any explanation for the recovery, the man said, “When I heard you tell the students that all my indicators were going up, that made me feel happy and relieved.”

I think so. I try to stay positive as much as I can, and I usually feel better. When the depression rears up, though, it’s hard to dig out.

Wow, I didn’t know cellos could be played like that. Impressive to say the least. I do wonder how they clean off all the fingerprints before a show … and again after. Black mirrors, those things are.

Those two are who I usually turn to for more contemporary pieces played on cello; they can wring the unexpected out of that instrument, and make heavy metal sound magnificent. For classical cello, it’s usually Yo Yo Ma or Zuill Bailey.
