I grew up on fairy tales, but more the Grimms than Disney. The Brothers Grimm were a bit darker, and while I still love Disney movies, there’s something more satisfying for me to read the Grimms’ version of Cinderella (perhaps because the stepsisters got their comeuppance) than the light and airy Disney version (though I love Gus-Gus).
What do you expect when my mom introduced me to the works of Alfred Hitchcock and Stephen King before I was halfway through grade school?
So why am I talking about this today? That would be because today is Tell a Fairy Tale Day. Which version is your favorite?

Some modern fairy tales:
Trump won the 2020 election.
Antifa stormed the capitol on January 6, 2021
George Santos . . .

The 2020 Presidential election was not stolen. Instead, it has just been “borrowed” temporarily and it will be returned to Trump and the Republicans when the Democrats get tired of playing with it.

I definitely cannot like this statement!
Trump – never again! We don’t ever need another January 6!!!! Take the blinders off…

Love these. I’m always up for kitty humor. And yes, wake me up at your peril. Just. Don’t.

Growing up, I found Grimm’s versions interesting but puzzling. It was not until I reached adulthood that I realized the references to violence and neediness were a reflection of the grim life in the early 19th century.

Did you say that GRIMM-ly in a GRIMM-ly Grimm tone of voice?

AT sfbanak, Babbie was talking about modern fairy tales and I thought the idea that the 2020 Presidential election was just temporarily “borrowed” qualified as a modern fairy tale. WordPress.com needs a sarcasm font for this type of comment. I was not trying to offend you or anyone else with my comment. However, I was trying to deliberately be sarcastic, snarky, and facetious.
