Sunday story

I grew up on fairy tales, but more the Grimms than Disney. The Brothers Grimm were a bit darker, and while I still love Disney movies, there’s something more satisfying for me to read the Grimms’ version of Cinderella (perhaps because the stepsisters got their comeuppance) than the light and airy Disney version (though I love Gus-Gus).

What do you expect when my mom introduced me to the works of Alfred Hitchcock and Stephen King before I was halfway through grade school?

So why am I talking about this today? That would be because today is Tell a Fairy Tale Day. Which version is your favorite?

And I lived happily ever after! The hamster, not so much. Image found on imgur.

Or you have a pet with a thing for shoes (I’m lookin’ at you, Spikezilla!). Image found on imgflip.
This version was scrapped because there was no drama. But there were plenty of nuts. Image found on cheezburger.
