Of all the things that annoy me about aging, sciatica may be the thing that most bugs me. Sleep wrong one night or move a slightly wrong way, and bang. You aren’t comfortable standing, sitting or lying down, and walking can be problematic if you move too quickly.
What helps me is mostly rest (once I find a semi-comfortable position), anti-inflammatories, and half a muscle relaxer (I only take a full dose at night because it makes me sleepy, and right now I’m house/cat-sitting, so I need to keep my wits about me).
And humor. But not too much. Deep laughter can kinda hurt if I’m not careful. Don’t want to sprain that butt cheek.
That’s pretty accurate. My legs are just about that short. Image found on Pinterest.
And then you very quickly find out how overconfident you were when you strain your diaphragm because you (checks notes) walked two feet. Image found on Twitter/X.
I haven’t pulled out the heating pad yet … mostly because I forgot to grab it. But I did remember the Ben-Gay with lidocaine. Image found on QueenBuzz.
Getting up from a semi-comfortable position usually makes me look like this. Image found on iFunny.
If sharks had sciatic nerves, I’m pretty sure this is what they’d look like with a sciatica flare-up. Image found on Pinterest.
This is the expression on my face any time I try to move during a flare-up. Attractive, no? Image found on Meowingtons.
I left a comment on the previous blog and it didn’t post. I’ll try again.
I don’t think I’ve ever learned to act my age, which seems to have some positive effects, though it doesn’t hold back all aspects of aging. Wine helps.
After working as the medical secretary in an intensive care unit for approximately fifteen years, I can easily provide a long list of afflictions most of which are worse than sciatica.
I'm a retiree in his seventies. That may not be significant to many, since there is a bunch of us Baby Boomers around. However, in the year 2,000, when I received a diagnosis of Multiple Myeloma, I expected to be dead in three to five years.
I can sympathize with you Brenda. Yes I suffer from Sciatica also.

I would make a smart alecky, sarcastic, snarky comment about “Battlestar Sciatica” but since Cylons Is Golden, this is all I will say on this subject.

According to Benjamin Franklin, beer is proof that God loves us and wants us to be happy.

Maybe it’s nature’s way of making us grateful for the afflictions we don’t have?
