Tomorrow is Memorial Day, when we honor those who gave their lives in service to our country. We salute you, and thank you.

I'm a retiree in his seventies. That may not be significant to many, since there is a bunch of us Baby Boomers around. However, in the year 2,000, when I received a diagnosis of Multiple Myeloma, I expected to be dead in three to five years.

I was a fortunate veteran who came home alive, without being shot or shooting anyone. I salute and honor those who were not so lucky–the ones Bone Spur called losers and suckers. I hate to introduce ugly politics into what should be a solemn and loving remembrance, but today should remind us how important it is to have someone we can trust in charge.

I still think Donald Trump believed he didn’t have to serve in the military because he is a spoiled brat from a wealthy family.

“losers and suckers”? That’s odd, I spent four years in the Navy as an enlisted man but I do not feel like a loser or a sucker.

I’d not heard of the dog memorial until now. So well deserved. You can’t put a price on a good dog, and I’m sure these were the cream of the crop.

Marlow the Golden Retriever would have told me that he was so valuable that he was priceless. He seemed to think that he was the finest Golden Retriever in North Little Rock.
