A friend of mine died from cancer last week, unfortunately. Rita was a friend from my copy desk days who was my desk buddy. She retired about a year before I left the copy desk, and moved to eastern Arkansas a few years ago.

We shared a lot of loves: butterflies, flowers, jokes and, of course, cats. She was always sending me funny pictures (several of which have made it to the blog) and giving me ideas for blog posts and columns.

In her honor, I offer cats in costume. Neither of us would dare go as far as these cat people did, but we could sure laugh at the results. She would want that … and she would also wonder why so many of these costumes involve food.
