I might accidentally eat a pound of chocolate, but run a marathon? Nope.

Or every morning lately when it’s supposed to be really cold.

  1. I ran one marathon–in the 70s–to raise money for The Hunger Project. Raised $2600, which was the good news. Bad news: afterward, sitting was too painful; lying down was too painful; soaking in the tub eased the pain a little. Haven’t had any inclination to repeat the misadventure.

Conclusion: if God wanted us to run marathons, She would have given us better shock absorbers.

  2. Several years ago, I walked the half marathon and made good time for someone in my age group. I haven’t tried to do this again but I still like to walk for exercise. I am glad I did this at least once.

  3. The closest I’ve come to running a marathon was hiking to the top of Longs Peak and back (14,255 ft). Couldn’t move for three days.

As for that sloth, I saw a video somewhere recently of a sloth crossing a road, moving so slowly that someone stopped, picked him up, and carried him to other side. Would swear this pic is from that video.

    • When I used to hike most weekends, I went for forest trails. The one time I tried a mountain, I barely made it back and had to deal with the pain and the heat exhaustion that resulted.

I have got to find that video now!

  4. Yes Arkansas is Blessed with a lot of good hiking trails in the National Forests. And if you get tired of the hiking trails, there are abandoned roads you can explore.
