Sunday shots

I may do this dance. I may not. GIF found on giphy.

At long last, I’ll be getting my first shot of the coronavirus vaccine Tuesday morning, which means that by May I’ll be able to get back into the office (though I’m not sure I don’t want the option of working at home at least part of the time). It took a while to get to the point where my group (1C) was going to be able to get the shot. It seems weird that the medically vulnerable (me) would be in the same group with the media (also me); I would have thought being medically vulnerable would have at least been 1B, but …

Still, because of the ramping up of vaccine production, Arkansas finally will be giving us 1Cs the business. I’ll just be grateful rather than point out the states where we could have gotten it earlier. OK, I’m still a little ticked.

But seriously, people, get your shots, keep washing your hands (which you should do anyway), and wear a mask in public, at least until you’re fully vaccinated. It’s the best chance we have of getting back to normal.

  1. We’ll get our second shots tomorrow, and after two weeks from then, we should be fully protected–except for the 53 variants that’ll probably be circulating by then. Our plan is to (1) mostly stay home, (2) wear masks in public, and (3) wash our hands. If Dr. Fauci came to visit, I think we’d wear masks.

    • I think I’ll be wearing masks in public for a long time. At the very least, it’ll keep from breathing in too much cigarette smoke from the inconsiderate people lighting up all the time too close to the building. It always follows those of us who are allergic.

  2. From what I understand, you’re fully vaccinated with the 1st injection. The second injection, just bolsters your antibodies. I receive my second on April 4th. But I’ll continue to wear a mask for several weeks afterwards.

  3. I have already gotten both shots of the Moderna vaccine and my body did not like either shot. Yes I did have a bad reaction to both shots and had to stay home for a day or two afterwards.

  4. If you’re anything like me, you’ll dance out the vax center about a foot off the ground. I had very little reaction to the Moderna. Just sore arm both times. I hear younger people don’t fare quite a well. My son felt kinda puny for 2 or 3 days, but thought it was well worth it. We just got back together today and it was wonderful!

  5. When I got my first shot, the nurse gave me a card with “Moderna” on it as well as the time and date for my second shot. When I went to the clinic for my second shot, the nurse asked for the card before she gave me the vaccination shot. This nurse was teasing me about being “carded” and “shot” by a woman.
