As I write this Saturday night, I’m hearing my neighbors, again, shooting off fireworks. Sure, they want to celebrate the Fourth of July (which they’ve been doing for a week), but they aren’t worried about bothering their neighbors or animals, or possibly starting a fire. Lovely.

Let’s just agree that we can celebrate the birth of our nation without fireworks. (Sorry, John Adams.) Fire up the grill, throw on some chicken and burgers, crank up some tunes and have some fun.
