It should come as no great surprise that I’m a fan of masterful cello playing. One of my favorite concerts that I reviewed was when Zuill Bailey played with the Arkansas Symphony Orchestra. You can tell by watching him play that he doesn’t just play the music, he feels it.
I’m a sucker, especially, when cello lends a twist to more contemporary music, which is why I love 2Cellos. I somehow missed this video when it came out a few months ago, but it had me dancing. Plus (getting political for just a second, sorry), “Livin’ on a Prayer” is how a lot of us feel right now while waiting for enough people to get over their fear of needles, their stubbornness, or their insane political allegiance and get vaccinated.
I was struck by the strings dangling from their bows. Is that like tearing the knees out of your jeans?

Maybe! Makes it more rock ‘n’ roll. 😏

Wow! So much for staid and stuffy. I wonder how many bows they go through in one show …

I don’t know how many bows they use up and/or destroy in one show. I hope they can afford replacement bows. Speaking as someone who plays an acoustic string bass, bows for my instrument cost one hundred something dollars.

Their net worth is suspected to be in the low millions. Most of their money comes from live performances and tours.

I wouldn’t be surprised by them not being able to go for more than a couple of songs before needing a fresh bow.

One thing which worries is why so many people are so stubbornly holding on to a dead past with a death grip?

I wish I knew.

2Cellos probably buys cheap, poorly made bows in bulk. How long a bow does last depends on what materials it is made of (speaking from experience).
