Sunday snickers

Today is National Let’s Laugh Day, which is apropos since Red Nose Day in the U.K. happened Friday. If you haven’t heard of it before, it’s a telethon put on by Comic Relief, a charity founded in 1985 by Richard Curtis and Lenny Henry focused on alleviating poverty.

Enjoy this sampling of some of my favorite sketches from the show (the Kylie Minogue one is from this year; the whole thing hasn’t been posted as far as I’ve seen, but you can watch sketches from this year and previous years here), and laugh. Can’t let a holiday directive go unfulfilled.

If you haven’t seen “Ghosts” from the BBC, you should.
David Tennant and Catherine Tate are one of my favorite comic duos. This sketch takes elements from Doctor Who and from Tate’s eponymous show (Lauren is a long-running character). Tennant hosted this year’s telethon.
I say again: Rowan Atkinson is a treasure.
