Sunday Rent

You may notice the graffiti on the left side of the picture that says, “Say gay.” Gosh, surely that’s not a pointed reference … 😉
I love my friends Kathy and Sarah. They put up with me, and that says a lot about them.

I spent Saturday afternoon with friends watching Argenta Community Theater’s next-to-last performance of Jonathan Larson’s “Rent,” which is why if you happen upon one of us in the next few days you may catch us singing.

In honor of that musical, enjoy a few memes on the theme of rent.

If something’s gonna live rent-free in your head, let it be something like this. Much less consternation. Image found on Know Your Meme.

Not sure I’d be able to afford even that … Image found on imgflip.

Charlie probably imagines this every time he eck-ecks out the back door. It will never happen. Image found on Pinterest.

  1. Since “Rent” supposedly is loosely based on the 1896 opera La Boheme by Giacomo Puccini and the opera was based on the 1851 book “Scenes de la vie de Boheme” by the French novelist and poet Henri Murger, I think it would be correct to say that “Rent” has some distinguished ancestors.

    • I said “distinguished ancestors” instead of “extinguished ancestors” because both “La Boheme” and Murger’s book are still alive and well even if Puccini and Murger are both dead and gone.

  2. I’ve always liked the observation that holding a grudge against someone or hating someone is letting them live rent-free in your brain. And in most cases, they don’t even know that or suffer from it.
