Heads-a-poppin’

  1. Brenda: I enjoy reading your column each Wednesday. Not just the subject matter which is presented in a balanced manner, but also your way of saying things. And your insistence that observations be based on some resemblance of fact. You seem also to appreciate (I detest split infinitives) humorous expressions, some of which are revealing. Here is something I read in a novel by Jeffrey Archer “As the Crow Flies” on page 342. A snooty old woman was making excuses in her own mind as to why her son had not done as well in school as she hoped he would. She described him as being “innately intelligent rather than academically clever.” That explains it.
