For all my Arkansas-based readers, a request: Please send some letters, either by email at voices@arkansasonline.com, or by snail mail to Arkansas Democrat-Gazette Voices, P.O. Box 2221, Little Rock, AR 72203.
We’ve had some technical issues with a server which unfortunately handicapped us a little bit on the Voices page. Part of it has been taken care of, but email and submissions from our Web form are still sporadic. If you sent anything through the Web form or email to my work email or to Voices on Wednesday or Thursday, odds are that I didn’t get it, so please try again.
Thank you for your patience.

Posted this comment on Brenda’s column about angry conservatives
I recently ran across an online story about a Methodist church that didn’t want to include the flag and pledge of allegiance in some church event. I didn’t have an opinion one way or the other, but I was struck by the reader comments on what turned out to be a right-wing site. The church’s action was frequently condemned as socialistic or Marxist. So I asked what I thought was a simple and wholly genuine question: “How did this become a socialist issue?”
The responses were quick and many. Here’s a sample:
“If you don’t see the connection It will be useless to try to explain it to you.”
“declare your allegiance, Marxist, Socialist or clueless?”
“Really Earl? Don’t even try that innocent holier than thou act…”
“Earl, please don’t make me laugh, my lips are chapped!”
“Your a fool. A dinosaur.”
“Ask your dumb Muslim president.”
Actually, I think I got the clarification I was looking for. If something makes you angry, it must be Marxist or Muslim or both.
