Today is National Poets Day, and because I’m a huge ailurophile, I’m going to celebrate in the best way I know … with cats. I’m not much of a poet, so I’m borrowing from others; still, I’ll share a few haikus. Enjoy!

And even then, it didn’t always work. But he was an awfully adorable little psycho.
My obviously broken cat wasn’t obsessed with boxes. But paper bags? LOVED THEM. Image with poem from “I Can Pee On This Too” found on Amazon.
Anyone who’s ever loved a cat is very familiar with this phenomenon. Image found on I Iz Cat.
I have to remember not to bring Popeye’s into Sarah’s house when Charlie’s about.
Luke was a prolific cusser, sorta like his great-grandma. Image found on Medium Large.
We forgive them even though they’re usually not sorry (sometimes they really are) because they’re adorable, sweet, funny, and we love them. Image found on Pinterest.
My friend Wayne loved tapping on the window to annoy the boy.
Plus toe beans, paw curls, that little “eck-eck” … so many reasons to love these furballs. Image found on yggsdrasille.com.

Charlie’s really not fat, but my boy (about whom I wrote this) was sometimes a chonk.

    • But, according to the song, Mama don’t ‘low no schizophrenia ’round here.
“Mama don’t ‘low no schizophrenia ’round here,
Mama don’t ‘low no schizophrenia ’round here.
      I don’t care what Mama don’t ‘low
‘Cause this ain’t the real world anyhow.
Mama don’t ‘low no schizophrenia ’round here.”

  1. My cats would meow at me repeatedly until I woke up instead of walking around on top of me. Many years ago, there was a tomcat living with me who always insisted on going out at four a.m. no matter whether it was summer, winter, autumn, or spring.
