Summer officially started last week, but the temperature has been rising for weeks already, and if you know me, you know I’m not a fan of summer. It’s not just the heat and humidity, but memories of horrific sunburns, leeches, mosquitoes, and getting swept up in rapids and nearly drowning (and nobody noticing I wasn’t around till I managed to pull myself out a half-mile away from camp and trudged back; that’s what free-range parenting was in the late 1970s-1980s). And ya know, I thought a funny video or two would make me feel better about summer.
Yeah, no. Still hate it. I want some ice cream, dang it.
Love the second one most. “So hot I heard a mosquito ask for ice blood!” Hilarious! Thanks!

Eww, leeches. Fortunately I’ve never encountered one. Love lightning bugs but haven’t seen one since I left Oklahoma.

The last summer I went on the family camping trip was the one that featured both a second-degree sunburn and leeches. That was not fun. After that, I stayed with my grandma in Fort Smith when they went on those trips.

My first camping trip was also my last. I like my creature comforts, the kind you don’t find in a tent.

Hang in there until we can hate winter again.

This time I agree with SusanR because I like to have my “creature comforts” also instead of going camping in a tent. This is one of the reasons I prefer to stay at certain hotels when I take a trip.
