This has been a weird (but not wacky) week, so I say it’s time for a little wacky to maintain sanity. What’s wackier than politics?
After all, what could be more insane than electing The Donald? I think Cher agrees with me on that … And does anyone believe he wouldn’t declare war on every other nation the second he was sworn in?
Between his pomposity and crackpot beliefs, we’d be in for a world of hurt. If you think the world hates us now, you ain’t seen nothin’ yet. (And for those who believe the world didn’t really hate us under Dubya, what the hell are you smokin’?)
And yes, strangely, we’ve had some people write in that they’re offended by the editorial we ran this week with the headline “Send in the clown.” Because The Donald, apparently, is the last great hope for our salvation.
Yes, seriously.
This, from the wonderfully wacky Nick Anderson of the Houston Chronicle, pretty much sums it up, I think.
Perhaps this Donald would be better … OK, no perhaps … he’d definitely be better, even with the pantless rigamarole …
Still, we really could do worse …
Jeb(!) is starting to look a lot more electable …
Especially if he uses this campaign sign … well, he’d get the Star Wars geeks, anyway …

An AdWeek commenter’s addition to the Jeb! fun.

Oops … so sorry 😉
By the way, if you’re an Arkie, please write a letter to the editor for the Voices page of the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette. We can always use good letters (meaning factual or clearly opinion, with no profanity).
You can send letters by going to the Voices form, by email at voices@arkansasonline.com, by fax at (501) 372-4765 (make sure you put it to the attention of Voices), or by snail mail at Arkansas Democrat-Gazette, Voices, P.O. Box 2221, Little Rock, AR 72203.
Thanks!

Ah! The voice of reason at work here. I seriously cannot understand how those uncaring, illogical people are even supported. Palin gushing over the walking hairpiece? It hurts! Oh, but wait, beleaguered sensibilities, she’s a kook, too.
Thank you Brenda

Politics is full of kooks … and unfortunately, there are a lot of kooks who elect them.
We may get to the point where the biggest selling point for those of us who think about these things might be who is the least insane. 😉

Oh please never let it come to that.

If the GOP field is any indication, we may already be there. 😦

I just saw an article that said Donald Trump is polling just behind Jeb Bush in New Hampshire (Jeb Bush 14%, Donald Trump 11%). It’s still early. At least that’s what I keep telling myself.

Surely the GOP would realize that having The Donald as its nominee would just hand the election to whoever went up against him. Unless the country has completely gone ’round the bend (PLEASE, NO!!!!).

I agree, although I spotted a neighbor with a Ted Cruz 2016 bumper sticker. Now that Jindal is in the pool of 13 candidates (I may have lost count), I will be interested to see who pulls to the front of the pack.

And Cruz isn’t even eligible since he was born elsewhere!
Sadly, it’s not just the candidates out of touch with reality …
