I’d like to be this cool. I’ll never be this cool. GIF found on Twisted Sifter.
That’s what I’m hoping for anyway, as hot as it’s been lately. And apparently the heat has been cooking my brain cells since I forgot somehow to schedule this post last Sunday, which would have been the day after the 50th anniversary of the moon landing, and National Ice Cream Day to boot.
So yeah, I kinda screwed up. Again. I do that more than I’d like.
Today, though, is National Milk Chocolate Day. While I tend to prefer a mix (because sometimes dark chocolate is too bitter and milk chocolate, especially of the European variety, can be too sweet), I can be on board with good milk chocolate. Especially in ice cream. I’ll be dipping into a carton later. And maybe a Klondike. And an Italian ice.
Anything cold, really. It’s frickin’ hot. And it’s not even August yet. Sheesh.
OK, little otter, you can have it. But I’m takin’ the half-gallon of Yarnell’s. Image found on Pinterest.
Since I grew up in the country with dairy farming friends, I’ve always known chocolate milk doesn’t come from cows (well, the chocolate part). Doesn’t mean I haven’t laughed at those who thought it did. Image found on imfunny.net.
Well, now we know who’s been eating the butter pecan ice cream. Image found on amazing-creature.
I’ve seen no ice cream. Promise. I kept my eyes closed the entire time. Image found on Pinterest.

But … but … chocolate! Speed Bump by Dave Coverly.

Not so sure about the vegan part, but I’m on board with the ice cream part. Image found on imgflip.
It’s just so pure … sniff … Image found on imgur.
I don’t even care that you licked it first, hoomin. Image found on cheezburger.
The milk chocolate one does indeed appear to be less bitter. Image found on cheezburger.
Hey … that’s mint chip, not butter pecan! I want butter pecan! Image found on AwesomelyCute.
It’s so cold … it’s like the Great White North we’re supposed to be from! Image found on Pinterest.

Yeah, those are all yours, kitty. Image found on Pinterest.
Many years ago my father had a friend who liked cats. This man had a mother cat and her kittens who were hanging around his house because he was feeding them. During the summer, he liked to buy and eat ice cream in those boxes which you could completely unfold until they were flat. Yes he did share the ice cream with the mother cat and her kittens. In his back yard he had this low metal table which was one foot high. One day after eating most of the ice cream in the box, he took the box outside into the back yard, unfolded the box completely and put it on a certain one foot high table. When he didn’t see the mother cat of her kittens, he started calling for them. One of the kittens came running around the corner of the house and headed straight for the table with the ice cream box on it. The kitten jumped up on the table to lick up the ice cream but it was going so fast and the box was so slick that the kitten slid all of the way across the box and the table then fell into the grass with a surprised look on its furry face. This kitten quickly jumped back up and helped his mother and the other kittens lick up the ice cream.
Speaking of the Moon landing, here is a song by Leslie Fish to commemorate that event. Fish wrote the words and the music. This version was recorded by Julia Ecklar. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IXteSV8rBwY
I'm a retiree in his seventies. That may not be significant to many, since there is a bunch of us Baby Boomers around. However, in the year 2,000, when I received a diagnosis of Multiple Myeloma, I expected to be dead in three to five years.
I scream, you scream, the police come, it’s not pretty.

Did you enjoy the song? It is one of my favorites. Yes I have heard Leslie Fish sing it in person at a science fiction convention many years ago.
