I really hope that noise is just Luke’s ghost again. I don’t want to have to dig out my machete.

It’s really hard to believe it’s October already. Which means I should be watching Halloween-type movies, and so far all I’ve watched is the last season of American Horror Story (which was … weird).
At some point this month, I’ll pull out Nightmare Before Christmas, It, Lost Boys and a few other favorites.
And then … Hocus Pocus.
Sure, it’s not the best movie in the world, but there are many reasons it has a cult following now (heck, even members of my Ravenhill guild are fans). There’s a very young Timothy McGee (that’d be Sean Murray for non-NCIS fans) using a very bad English accent. There’s Bette Midler chewing the scenery uproariously and singing. There’s Kathy Najimy riding a vacuum cleaner. There’s Garry and Penny Marshall as the guy the sisters think is Satan and his wife (don’t think about that one too much). And there’s my favorite moment, with Sarah Jessica Parker, that should come as no surprise to my fellow word nerds, considering how much I love words that are fun to say.
At some point this month I will surely sit down with a cup of cocoa, some cookies and curl up to watch one of my favorite Halloween movies. And yes, I’ll sing along to that song (though Screamin’ Jay Hawkins, RIP, did the best version of it).
Sometimes you just have to give in where these things are concerned and give your inner movie critic the night off. That guy’s a real killjoy.
For pure horror, I don’t think any film can compare with a Trump press conference.

I try to avoid watching any Presidential Press conferences no matter who is the President. I prefer to watch horror movies instead.

Press conferences of any kind are a bore. 😴

If the President is a male pig, does that really make his press conference a “boar”?

Oh, but he doesn’t have press conferences, really. He has gaggles on his way to Marine One so he can quickly shout his non-answers. 😏
But he is both boorish and boar-ish. 🐗

I like horror movies with an actual somewhat realistic plot (so not slasher films), but I have to admit I prefer Halloween comedies and animation. I’ll take Jack Skellington any day over Jason or Michael Myers.

Plot? Plot? What is a “Plot”? I agree with you Brenda. I prefer Jack Skellington also.

Jack is a sympathetic character. Michael Myers, not so much.

After I watched the first “Alien” movie, I had nightmares for a whole week.

Every time I fell asleep or tried to sleep, I could just see that alien critter reaching out for me to attack me because it was hungry and wanted a snack.
