Saturday, I spent some time outside at Sarah’s, just talking and watching Charlie scamper around like mad (if you’ve never experienced fall with a cat, you’re missing out). It was a gorgeous day, which put me in a good mood, despite Sarah being under the weather. That brought to mind my favorite rendition of “Autumn Leaves”: Nat King Cole’s version. When I hear those strings at the beginning, reminiscent of leaves falling, I instantly feel better. The only way it could be improved would be to add a cat scampering in the leaves.
What a great way to begin settling in to Autumn.Thanks.
Here’s a Punday greeting: I’m working at a factory making plastic Dracula dolls. Since there are only two of us, I make every second Count.

That snort-laugh you just heard from north of you was me. 🤣

Many years ago on Halloween, I asked a woman if she wanted to go to a Halloween party with me by doing my best imitation of Bela Lugosi as Count Dracula. The woman was so desperate for a cheap thrill that she actually said, “Yes.”

I believe “Nature Boy” was Cole’s first hit. I remember where I was when I first heard it, in a movie theater over the speakers before the show started. I would have been 11.

I was lucky that I had a mom who wanted to expose me to a broad array of music, books, movies, etc. Nat King Cole was one of those, along with Etta James, Nina Simone and others.

I had this very song stuck in my head yesterday. Until distracted by something else (already forgotten) I fully intended to write about it Sometimes I think we’re related.
