With the rainy weather the last few days plus all that Thanksgiving food, I think most people will excuse you for being a bit of a lump today. I have a small field trip planned if it doesn’t rain today, plus laundry and more turkey and dressing (I made mine Saturday since I ended up dining with friends on Thanksgiving). And then? Probably being a lump. I’m good at that.

Sometimes slow is good. Not while running a race, driving in the left lane, or exiting a burning building, perhaps, but it can work other times. The key, however, is to enjoy it. If Guilt comes knocking, don’t answer the door or sic your cat on it.

Apparently Charlie celebrated the lack of dogs after Spike and Shadow were gone by racing through the house, Sarah tells me. Right now he’s napping on his condo, taking it slow.

How well I know this feeling. And there’s still more in the fridge …

Sarah and I are having some today. What I ate yesterday was the overflow dressing that fit in a 5-inch skillet, so what we have is a whole 8×8 pan, plus most of the turkey and we still have pie. I know what I’m eating most of the week.

Sounds like what I’m doing tonight!

I had to work on Thanksgiving Day. I tried not to eat too much since I was at work and on duty. Also, if I didn’t eat too much that meant there was more food for my co-workers to eat.

Speaking of “Dorothy” and a “field of poppies”, have you ever heard the song “Existential Blues” by Tom “T-Bone” Stankus? There is one verse in this song which references the movie about a certain Wizard in the mythical land of OZ.

I don’t think I have.

If you have never heard “Existential Blues” by Tom “T-Bone” Stankus, I recommend that you go to YouTube and listen to it at least once. I first heard it on the Doctor Demento Show many years ago. It is a surreal and bizarre song.

The picture of the two dogs who seemed to be worried about their owner because he ate too much turkey does remind me of Marlow. He would have been much too glad to help me eat any turkey but he was just trying to be a good dog.
