Sunday seriously

I returned home yesterday after a week at Sarah’s to escape the heat. It was mercifully cooler in the house than it had been, but I noticed the fans in the bathroom and kitchen were off, which meant the power had gone off at some point. Apparently when that happened, it messed up my wireless gateway since multiple resets didn’t work, and a diagnostic told me no gateway was found.

Seriously???

The gateway had been a little unreliable lately, so I had intended on getting a mobile hotspot as backup, but had been putting it off because of other expenses. Now I have one and spent a large part of Saturday afternoon getting it set up. Heck, if this does well, I may cancel my home Internet and save myself some money.

In the meantime, I need kitty techs to make me feel better about the outlay on this thing.

I should be so lucky to have Charlie as my tech support. Though his go-to move is smacking the tech …

That’ll be $200, please. Image found on Way of Cats.
No, this is the wrong one … it smells like salmon. I need the one that smells like halibut! Image found on PixShark.
Now if it’d been your whatchamacallit, you’d be better off getting a new one. Image found on cheezburger.
What about barfing on the router? Image found on Pinterest.
Well, here’s your problem: It’s not plugged in! Oh, and I threw the door lick in for free. GIF found on Know Your Meme.

I find a little gnawing usually does the trick. Image found on IHeartCats.

No, bean-squishing is not included in the support cost. Please, ma’am, step away from the toe beans. Image found on cheezburger.
You’re all connected and ready to go. Please rate me 5 stars! Image found on Linguahouse.

  1. On tech support, I’ve always enjoyed the discussion of porn-blocking software for your TV. Probably the only family member who can figure out how to install it is your 13-year-old son. Good luck with that.

  2. “Gateway”? Not familiar with that term, but then I’m often behind the advances in tech. I assume you’re talking about wi-fi. We get ours from the local cable company which also rents us the modem. I’m not sure how using a mobile hotspot could save you money; there has to be a primary source for the data and that is fairly costly. ??

    • That’s what AT&T calls its modem. Last night the hotspot was very steady while I was streaming and working on my iPad. The real test will be working from home tomorrow. If it holds up well, I’ll probably cancel home Internet and phone. The unlimited data plan is cheaper than my internet and phone plan.

  3. I could use some of that tech support here. In the last few weeks I’ve cut the cable cord, switched to a new computer, and fought with a video doorbell that doesn’t believe in video. And I’ve yet to tackle moving the modem and router to a better location. Any one of those techs above could probably do better than I have. (Love the tuxedo guy that looks like he has his tail wrapped around his face.)

    • This cat reminds me of the character Zathras from Babylon Five. One of Zathras’ signature lines is: “This wrong tool. Never use this tool.” Zathras is supposed to be a handyman–fix it man–repairman who can fix anything or any machine which has broken down and is not working–even your car. One of his other signature lines is: “Zathras fix.”
