I remember the puffy jackets from the 1980s, but the ones my brothers and I had weren’t very stylish (they were from Fingerhut). It was actually cold enough in Dayton to wear them for a lot longer than around here. Being further northwest than Little Rock, we usually got snow, and a lot of it, when people south of Russellville got only a dusting or, the usual for Little Rock, ICE (oh, it’s so much fun!).
Puffy jackets are back in style, but now often oversized (why???), and overpriced. The puffy vest can be fitted or oversized, but really, why a puffy vest at all? What’s the point? The Holderness Family knows what I’m talking about.
Could puffy jackets be part of the reason that aliens flying past Earth lock the doors of their spacecrafts?

Warmth without weight is the big draw, so the puffiness has value. But I’ve never seen the point of vests. If it’s cold, I want sleeves!
