Sunday strings

Longtime readers know my love for great cello music (I blame Zuill Bailey for part of that; reviewing a concert of his with the Arkansas Symphony Orchestra really amplified my love for the instrument). Today’s video is from HAUSER (Stjepan Hauser, who was part of 2CELLOS, another favorite); it’s his version of “Carol of the Bells,” a song I performed as part of the faculty/staff choir years ago at ASU. We’re past Thanksgiving, and officially in December, so I think it’s appropriate to let the Christmas music ring out. Enjoy.

I’ve always loved this song.

  1. I first encountered this Christmas song in one of my mother’s music books. It was a collection of Christmas songs which was edited and arranged by John W. Schaum. “Carol Of The Bells” was one of the few songs in this book which didn’t have a jazz or “rock’n’roll” type of derangement.
