No laughs today, folks, but for a very good reason.
Heather Heyer never should have died that day, nor should have the police officers monitoring the protests and counterprotests in a helicopter.

A year ago today, 32-year-old Heather Heyer was killed in Charlottesville, Va. Heyer was with friends at a counterprotest against a Unite the Right rally and as people dispersed, she was struck by a car driven into the crowd.
She and her friends were standing up for what they believed to be right. They were standing against hate and violence.

We should all be willing to stand up for what we believe in, and without violence. The alt-right, Antifa, and others who support such measures should be met with strength and character, not force.
I think Heyer would want that.
The Women’s Marches have been pretty much the model: peaceful but still powerful.

When people use violence to communicate their point of view, that seems to indicate they know their point of view will not stand up in a context of fact and logic. The same is true to a slightly lesser extent for communicating by bullying and/or hate speech. Anyone come to mind?
