Sunday moms

Today is the day in the U.S. that we pay homage to moms, though to be honest we should be doing that every minute of every day. My mom’s not here anymore, unfortunately, but she’ll always be in my heart.

Mama taught me to see the humor in bad situations, especially when I get overwhelmed. These moms could use that advice.

  1. Last Wednesday, my Mom turned 100. Originally, we had planned a major celebration at her home in Vermont, but COVID-19 intervened. However, her neighbors were not deterred, though respectful of everyone’s safety. The whole thing was covered on the 6 o’clock news.

  2. The first weekend in March I went out to the Good Shepherd Retirement Center with my acoustic string bass to help a friend and musical partner-in-crime celebrate his mother’s one hundredth birthday. His mother plays the fiddle and the violin and has been playing it for most of her life. Her son plays the guitar and sings and his favorite music is bluegrass. Yes all of us had a good time.
